“A Call to Forty Days of Seeking God”
September 22-October 31, 2010
In Matthew 16:1-2, Jesus leaves no doubt that His people should be able to “discern the signs of the times.” Any way we look at current trends, these are incredibly pivotal days. Based on Scripture and history, only a sweeping spiritual awakening will prevent today’s moral and social decline from becoming a total collapse.
It is at just such times God’s true remnant must rise to His call. To God’s praise, His remnant is stirring and new calls to prayer and repentance are arising from many groups. Over the last month I have sensed God’s leading to temporarily set aside three other books to quickly complete the unique tool, “Forty Days of Seeking God: Praying for Revival, Repentance and Major Elections.” This practical book is designed to equip believers and churches for forty days of strategic prayer, fasting and repentance. In praying with Dr. Jordan, he and many pastors also sense this same urgency. For this reason, we urge all believers and churches to unite in a forty-day period of earnestly seeking God.
If you would like more information on ordering this new resource, please contact our office at (405-942-3800, x4517 or pjones@bgco.org. We are also offering Praying for Revival and Elections: “A Condensed Forty Day Journey,” which can be found in the “Resources/Article” tab of our Prayer and Spiritual Awakening Page on this website. Also available is an 8-pg. guide for cleansing and repentance entitled "Drawing Near to God." Obviously, prayers will have little effect unless they are accompanied by deep repentance and the reverential fear of God.
As believers embrace this forty day focus on prayer, it is crucial that we fully surrender to Christ in loving obedience. Repentance is not just turning from sin, it is turning to God in a lasting commitment. May God grant us more than merely a prayer movement. Let us truly return to the Holy God of Scripture.
Toward the next great awakening,
Dr. Gregory Frizzell
